Squireship

Once an Aspirant has completed the requisite tasks of Aspirancy, they are eligible to be taken on as a Squire to a Knight of their chosen path and given the appropriate habit and armament with which to train and learn. Requirements for a successful Squireship are as follows.

Trial of Respect

• The Horseman of Respect meets with the pair and gauges the weaknesses of the Squire's devotion to the Virtue of Respect. From there, the Horseman will assign a trial that will test the Squire at their weak points.

Life of Respect (Requires Path of Respect)

• Upon completing the Trial of Respect, if the Squire has chosen Respect as their path, the Horseman will begin a specialised training regimen unique to that path. This is known as the Life of Respect.

Debate with Horseman of Respect

• If the Squire is not of the Path of Respect, they shall debate with the Horseman of Respect on the Virtue after they have completed the Trial of Respect.
• If the Squire is of the Path of Respect, the debate takes place after the Life of Respect is completed.

Meditation on Respect

• The Squire meditates upon what they have learned, until they feel ready to proceed.

Trial of Tenacity

• The Horseman of Tenacity meets with the pair and gauges the weaknesses of the Squire's devotion to the Virtue of Tenacity. From there, the Horseman will assign a trial that will test the Squire at their weak points.

Life of Tenacity (Requires Path of Tenacity)

• Upon completing the Trial of Tenacity, if the Squire has chosen Tenacity as their path, the Horseman will begin a specialised training regimen unique to that path. This is known as the Life of Tenacity.

• The Horseman of Compassion meets with the pair and gauges the weaknesses of the Squire's devotion to the Virtue of Compassion. From there, the Horseman will assign a trial that will test the Squire at their weak points.

• The Horseman of Truth meets with the pair and gauges the weaknesses of the Squire's devotion to the pursuit of Truth. From there, the Horseman will assign a trial that will test the Squire at their weak points.

Life of Truth (Requires Path of Truth)

• Upon completing the Trial of Truth, if the Squire has chosen Truth as their path, the Horseman will begin a specialised training regimen unique to that path. This is known as the Life of Truth.

Debate with the Horseman of Truth

• If the Squire is not of the Path of Truth, they shall debate with the Horseman of Truth on the importance of it after they have completed the Trial of Truth.
• If the Squire is of the Path of Truth, the debate takes place after the Life of Truth is completed.

Meditation on how Truth works alongside the Three Virtues

• The Squire meditates upon all they have learned, including how Truth works alongside the Three Virtues.

Final Test by the Horsemen

• The Horsemen and the Highlord will meet to devise a final test, encompassing Respect, Tenacity, Compassion and Truth in one undertaking that will test the Squire for all they are.

Review

• If the Final Test is complete, the Horsemen and the Highlord meet in private to discuss the Squire's preparedness for Knighthood. If the Squire is agreed to be prepared, they shall embark on a Pilgrimage.

Pilgrimage to Uther's Tomb in habit for a blessing

• The Squire dons their habit and takes a skin of spring water with dried meat and embarks on-foot upon a pilgrimage to Uther's Tomb. Upon reaching the Tomb, the Squire is to meditate and pray for a sign from the Light that they are worthy.

Knighting

• The Squire must prepare themselves to be Knighted by studying the Ceremony of Knighting.
